In June 2022, Delta Air Lines opened its new, state-of-the-art home at LaGuardia Airport, where the $4 billion Terminal C replaced the airline’s two antiquated and undersized terminals.
NightLight Labs teamed with ESI Design to provide interactive programming for two separate media experiences which bookend the travel journey.
In the departure hall, the digital mural Departing Impressions comprises 34 lenticular columns of high-resolution LEDs to create an inviting threshold. The installation uses live flight data to display sweeping imagery of travel destinations triggered in realtime by departing flights. NightLight created custom programming as well as fluid animated transitions to blend one destination into the next.
In baggage claim, four high-resolution media bands at the exits showcase views of the city familiar to locals. Lidar sensors at the thresholds allow the media to respond dynamically to outgoing passengers, providing a view into the city with an evocative lens within the media.
